Do a compression test

Vw-approved antifreeze does not come in any other colour. You can use another colour but it will not be the correct spec for Vw. so it will be less effective, but it can be used.

It will produce the same result, nothing will be damaged.

The switch that activates the fan needs replacing (the one you unplug to get the fan to work)

If one of the rockers is broken then the car will misfire, replace the rocker and do a compression test to check if the piston rings are ok, low compression means either rings are broken/worn or valves are not sealing cylinders.

It could be the tappets need to be reset. ( valve clearances, inlet 0.10mm - 0.15mm cold/exhaust 0.25mm - 0.30mm cold ) good luck I hope you come right.

@@bertramrossouw5239 It could be the belt is too loose, especially noisy when the engine is still cold.

I have that often, it takes one to cut the CV joint with an angle grinder to get it off, but it is a bummer when all you want to do is replace the boot only, once cut the CV joint needs to be replaced.

Yes, they do on most diesel motors and some petrol motors too that is why it is necessary to replace the pump when you do the cam belt and visa/versa.
